My Name is Chukwuebuka Enemuo, and I am studying MSc Economics and Finance at the School of Economics and I am from Lagos, Nigeria.
Having spent years acquiring experience working in the biggest bank in Africa in international trade and treasury, it was time to further my studies. The decision to settle for United Kingdom wasn’t easy and choosing what program and which University to study at, was an important decision as I wanted to make the best possible choice. This was a decision that I didn’t make lightly, but one that I did extensive research for. I looked at many different Schools and Universities in the UK, I considered multiple rankings within and outside the UK; programs offered; available Scholarships for international students; and the overall cost of the program as well as living expenses. I chose to study at the University of East Anglia (UEA), School of Economics (ECO). The School is situated on UEA’s beautiful campus in the city of Norwich. Everything I need to feel at home away from home is within reach: few minutes’ walk and drive to the city centre, the ultra-modern library, Sports Park; the Student Union Bar, shops and eateries on campus, Post Office, luxury student accommodations on campus. Did you know that the movie, Avengers: Endgame was shot at UEA, at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts? Norwich is also referred to as “The City of Stories”. Wouldn’t you fancy studying and living here!
The School of Economics at UEA is amongst the best in UK and the world at large, as well as having modern teaching facilities and dedicated computer labs, etc. Having studied Banking and Finance in my undergraduate degrees, I get one-on-one meetings with my module convenors and lecturers who support me further and they are very helpful to make up for my gaps in specific modules. The School of Economics have given me the platform and skills I require to excel in life: skills in data analysis; programming using Python; research assistantships; employability workshops; CV revamping sessions; and training students for interviews. The School of Economics has put me ahead of most of my peers studying Economics in other Universities. I have made memories that will last a lifetime and I have made many new friends.
The School of Economics is not just a place to learn; it is a place for new adventures, it is a place that builds you for life.
My advice to anyone looking for further studies is to come and experience the UK and Norwich; come and experience teaching at different levels, come to UEA School of Economics to rediscover yourself and your hidden potentials.
